Working on the Tribes game again

After a couple of weeks or days pausing the tribes game, I found new motivation to work on some parts. Actually, I did a couple of things that are not really visible. Here is a small log of changes and new features to the game since the las t post

Resident actions

Finally, it’s possible to interact with the residents. You can increase or damage the relationship between you and the residents or you can change his/her current job. But beware, jobs are not only connected to the capabilities of the resident, but also with prestige. So if you tell a warrior that his going to be a farmer from now on, he won’t be happy about it.

Thing & votes

Once in a year your settlement comes together to talk and decide about where your tribe is heading. This is not only important, to set the mindset and the goals of the whole settlement, but they will also judge your actions since the last thing. If the people are not happy with you and the loyality is low, they will vote for a new leader of their tribe. But also, if they are very unhappy in your tribe, they may also leave the tribe if they are brave enough.

Natural ressources

I added an algorithm to add iron ore or coal into the ground. Right now, its visible right away, but the plan is, that it must be discovered. This won’t be discovered just by visiting a new tile (all tough its possible by chance), you will have to investigate the ground. This will be easier, if the people who are investigating, are experienced in nature skills. This is also the way, how the soil quality is determined. A better soil will grant better a harvest.

Hill terrain

I finally worked on the hill tiles. They don’t look too satisfying, but its better now than just the square sprites in the former version.

Combat preparations

Right before a enemy encounter, you can now select, which residents go into battle. This is only possible, if you have enough time to react. On a surprise attack you won’t be able to do so.
