After deciding on the character style, I started to work on female characters. Again, I just went to google and took some random photos of women to get the proportions right.
I played around with some parts like the eyes, noses and ears. Also, I tried some hairstyles. Playing around with female hairstyles is way more fun, than with the male ones. But also more challenging, because suddenly you also have multiple layers for a single hairstyle.
After that, I compared a semi-final male character with a female character to see if the styles fit together. This is the result:
