Writing the building system

This time I worked an hour or so on my second project. Just to get the head clear and doing something different.

All games like Anno or SimCity have to keep track on which tiles are blocked when it comes to placing a new building. But this is not enough. You still need to know, where the front of the building is so you can make sure, that the entry is not blocked by another building. I am not really. This looks like this than:

Here you can see, that the game reserves spaces that can’t be used by different buildings.

The result can be seen in the screenshot above. I tried to block the building area (blue), mark the tiles infront of the building (red, can’t be taken by different buildings) and green (a marker maybe for people or planes that want to enter or leave the building). The result can be seen here:

I also worked on some Blender stuff. I managed to render some tiles in an isometric camera. Furthermore, I also managed to achieve a drop shadow on the rendering result, without rendering the background/ground so I get a transparent image file. Here you can see the result:
